Shaolin Kung Fu
Shaolin Kung Fu, together with the related arts of Cosmos Chi Kung and Zen (Chan), was taught in great secrecy in the Shaolin Monastery, which is regarded as the ‘foremost monastery beneath heaven’.
Today, the large number of Kung Fu practitioners from both the East and West who do not know Kung Fu’s combat application is alarming.
It has become normal for many Kung Fu students nowadays to learn only routine sets, which is only the first stage of Shaolin Kung Fu training, without ever progressing to more advanced stages.
This is unfortunate because not only is Shaolin Kung Fu a very effective fighting art, but the invaluable aspects of health and vitality as well as development of the noble personality for which true Shaolin disciples are noted, are derived from training Shaolin Kung Fu as a martial art, and not as a demonstrative form to please spectators.
Within Shaolin Wahnam, we teach Shaolin Kung Fu as a ‘complete art’, covering the four main aspects of which any style of Kung Fu can be divided into -
Form
Force
Application
Philosophy
You need not be large sized or strong to be effective with Shaolin Kung Fu, indeed we teach not to use ‘brute strength.
We teach how the correct use of skills such as timing, spacing, fast judgement and instantaneous change, can make even the smallest exponent well prepared for any attack.
